Brill Windmill - BPCC AGM
« on: April 11, 2007, 10:52:39 AM »
It was pointed out at the Brill Parish AGM last night that the windmill had been open to the public for 40 years without incident; so why would the Bucks Council want to close it for "health & safety reasons"?!! They said it was because of "tripping hazards" and hadn't bothered to send BrillPCC the report....ARRRGGHH. Anyone actually reaching the windmill without tripping on the common is unlikeliy to come a cropper in the 'mill!  Maybe they should close the common too in case someone slips on the mud?!!

Are the Brill Society planning to raise awareness of this disgraceful neglect by BCC over the last 3/4 years with the local media / MP etc in an effort to get some action ? Brill Common won't be quite as attractive to all the visitors if the windmill is a pile of firewood !

Unbelievable. The council should be throwing money at the windmill . It is a famous sight in Buckinghamshire and they are a disgrace

I have a suggestion:

1. Make the local press aware of the situation, announcing unilateral action by the Brill Society to re-open the windmill to the public on a specified date.

2. Invite local (and national?) press  plus regional TV to cover the grand re-opening.

3. Inform Bucks CC of the above, inviting a representative to attend.

Power to the People!

The americans tipped loads of items on the commom near the pheasant
I was a eleven year old,  with other Brill boys we collected all sorts of from
shirts boots belts badges even tins of chewing gum and tobacco. etc. etc
ask any brill boy in the age group 70 to 80 the will tell you the spot to check.
