How to create a Willow Sculpture

With Dave Gosling & Tony Davies - local sculptors

Willow structure of the type taught at the workshop ‘Impressive structures can be achieved in a day’ says Dave Gosling.

Dave and Tony will explain the story behind willow weaving and how it lead them into creating these amazing sculptures.

The day’s activity will start with an introduction followed by a talk and demonstration of techniques. Questions will be welcomed. Then everyone will be encouraged to start their sculpture – like riding a bike, the best way is to get into the saddle! They will then circulate around ensuring that everyone is happy and confident with their project. This format has worked really well for them in the past and ensures individual attention as well as a community feeling. The lunch break will take place at an appropriate time and then continue with the sculptures until the end of the day.

This is the perfect opportunity for the absolute beginner to sculpting and willow weaving, or to those who wish to improve their skill and benefit from the inspiration of two amazing professionals in a beautiful setting.

Please bring a pair of secateurs with you.

Women’s Wellbeing Day Part I – Back and Head Massage Techniques

With Geraldine Jarrell

‘When the body is in a state of deep relaxation it is only then that the body has the ability to heal itself’ Geraldine Jarrell

The day will start with a very brief history of Indian head massage, followed by an explanation of the benefits and the best practice to follow.  By partnering up you will learn the best techniques to perform a sequence of moves for upper back and head massage based on Indian techniques.

The opening relaxation breathing sequence is built on throughout the day, with upper back, shoulders and arms, finishing off with the head area after lunch. Everything is revisited several times, which is the easiest way to learn and the most relaxing way to spend a day in the woods.

There is no need to undress or use oils for the workshop, access to the neck is needed so no polo necks! Detailed worksheets will be handed out with pictures to use when you get home – you are going to be surprised how much you learn and how easy it will be to follow.

At the end of the day, with verbal instructions, each person will give and receive a 15 minute sequence using the techniques to aid deep relaxation; when the body is in a state of deep relaxation it has the ability to heal itself. Total bliss!

There will be no rushing.  There will be plenty of time with comfort breaks to learn all of this.  It should also be remembered that even when you are receiving you are learning.

This is an rare opportunity to embrace nature whilst learning these relaxation techniques.  No experience is necessary.

Brilltalk - General Discussion / Please help - Lost Ipad
« Last post by Digger on April 21, 2015, 06:37:52 PM »
May I ask the good people of Brill to please help us recover our lost Ipad. My wife and I attended a local  wedding on Saturday 4th April at the Pheasant Inn.  We returned on Sunday to spend time with the newlyweds (whom we are sure locals will know!). Unfortunately somewhere between  the Pheasant Inn  and the High Street it just "disappeared"  It might just have been possible for someone to come across an Ipad (in a black leather fold- out cover/case).  Please please, if you or  someone you know has come across it we would much appreciate it's return. It has many many photos of our grandchildren and we are anxious not lose them. We have notified the local Police Station who would be grateful for any information leading to its return. Anyone coming across it can contact the police or indeed us via our email address or pop in and see Jerina or James who have our contact details. Please help..... Thank you so much. Ann  and  George Perry
