The tail pole and wheel are now in their fixed position.  The new tail ladder, a traditional feature on post mills, has been installed to provide very important structural support to the mill body (buck) and helps to avoid structural twist. The feature forms just one of a range of specialist interventions that has allowed the mill to be taken off the national 'Heritage at Risk Register' and ensures confidence that the mill will remain standing into the future. All of the works and materials used at the mill have been under the strict approval and guidance of English Heritage, the local Historic Buildings Officer, a historic buildings structural engineer and two accredited historic building and mill conservation consultants. The mill is a Grade II* Listed building and all repairs and materials used have required rigorous Listed Building Consent approval and assessments.
